It has been reported that a passenger has tried to break into the cabin of an EgyptAir flight and assaulted crew.
According to Daily Star UK, the plane was flying from Oman’s capital Muscat to Cairo when the incident took place.
The distressed passenger reportedly attacked crew 26 minutes into the flight before he was apprehended.
It landed back in Mascut after pilots turned the plane around.
Police have now launched an investigation into the alleged attack.
Last week, a Thomson flight heading from Manchester to Cancun declared a mid-air emergency.
Flight BY174 had just left Manchester and made it as far as Dublin when it was forced to land at London Gatwick.
An alert from flight radar monitors said the plane was diverted due to a shattered flight deck window.
In 2016, 66 passengers were killed when EgyptAir flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo crashed into the Mediterranean.
