Sam Smith confirmed that he had penned and recorded the new theme

song Wirting's On The Wall for the new James Bond, Spectre.

23-year-old British singer, Sam Smith has confirmed that he has recorded the theme song for the new James Bond film, 'Spectre'. Calling it one of the highlights of his career, he revealed that the track which is co-written by the Latch hitmaker, will be called "Writing's On The Wall" when he put an end to speculation with a string of tweets on Monday night.

Sam dropped the first major hint when he shared a snap of him wearing

a ring emblazoned with the Spectre logo on Monday

The vocalist said: "This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it."

Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment confirmed that the 24th James Bond adventure will be released in the UK on October 26 and in the US on November 6.

New 007 flick: Spectre hits UK cinemas on 26 October and is released in the US on 6 November

The song, released by Capitol Records, will debut and be available to purchase and stream on September 25.

The four-time Grammy Award winner with five No1s under his belt, Sam becomes the first British male solo singer of a James Bond theme song since 1965.
