Horror! How Army School Commandant Was Thrown from Balcony to His Death in Ibadan

New details have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of an Army School Commandant in Ibadan.

About six suspects have been arraigned by the Oyo State Police Command at an Oyo State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Wednesday.
 
According to Metro Punch, they were arraigned for the murder of the Commandant, Command Secondary School, Apata, Ibadan, Col. Anthony Okeyim.
 
Okeyim died three weeks after he was promoted to the rank of brigadier and had been waiting to be decorated with his new rank when he was murdered.
 
The police told the court that the suspected killers threw Okeyim from the balcony of his one-storeyed official apartment inside the school, resulting in his death after he landed head first on the ground.
 
The police said the commandant was killed around 10pm on December 11, 2016, while his corpse was discovered the following morning.
 
The six suspects are Solomon Emmanuel, 20; Taiwo Adeniyi, aka Ejima, 33; Bibisoye Kehinde, aka Efrebor, 27; Ewere Andrew, 25; Udobata Onusa-Uzi, aka Kaka, 28; and Ephraim Obi, 38.
 
They were arrested by 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan and handed over to the Oyo State Police Command for prosecution.
 
The Deputy Director, Public Relations department of the division, Col. Timothy Antigha, had said the Samsung X4 phone of the deceased was found in the possession of one of the first suspects, Solomon Emmanuel.
 
They were arraigned before Mrs. R.A. Ebeloku-Mustapha of the magistrate’s court, who ordered them to be remanded in custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
 
She also adjourned the case till March 28, 2017.
 
The suspects were charged with three counts, including conspiracy to commit felony to wit; robbery and murder.
 
The prosecutor, Inspector Fatola Musiliu, told the court that the suspects had on the December 11, 2016, at about 10pm, at the Command Secondary School, Apata, Ibadan, in the Ibadan Magistrate’s District, did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit; robbery and murder, “thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.II, Law of Oyo state of Nigeria, 2000.”
