Tanks, ice-crushing submarines and Charlize Theron - the 8th installation in the high-octane Fast & Furious franchise has a few surprises up its sleeve as revealed in the explosive first trailer.

“Fast and Furious 8” has been gifted with a new title just ahead of Christmas.

The latest entry in the car-heavy action franchise will now be known as “The Fate of the Furious.” In addition, Universal released the first teaser for the film, with the full trailer due out on Monday.

In the film, Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are on their honeymoon and the rest of the crew has been exonerated. But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jason Statham will all reprise their roles from the previous films. Helen Mirren and “Game of Thrones” actor Kristofer Hivju are also joining the franchise alongside Theron.

The high-octane sequel is being directed by F. Gary Gray (“Straight Outta Compton”) and produced by Diesel, Neal Moritz of Original Film and Michael Fottrell. Screenwriter Chris Morgan will serve as an executive producer.

“The Fate of the Furious,” a.k.a. “Fast and Furious 8,” will premiere on April 14.
