A social media political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, has been k!lled at his home in Gaida, Kano State.

The exact circumstances of his d£ath remain unclear, but the k!lling has sparked demands for an urgent investigation.

Former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso announced the incident on social media, saying Dan Shagamu's body was found in a pool of blood at his residence.

Kwankwaso called the d£ath a brutal attack and urged the Kano State Government to set up an investigative panel to look into what happened and bring those responsible to justice.

Kwankwaso warned that if the authorities do not take swift and transparent action, the incoming NDC Government will launch a full investigation when it takes office and hold those responsible accountable.

He also called on state and Federal Governments to protect opposition voices from threats and attacks, noting that the Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom of expression.

Amnesty International condemned the k!lling and called for a thorough investigation.

The organisation said that in a democracy, outspoken people and critics should be listened to, not k!lled.

It expressed worry about what it described as reports of politically motivated threats and intimidation as elections approach.

The Kano State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress called the k!lling deeply disturbing and unacceptable, saying it poses a serious threat to press freedom, public safety and democratic values in the state.

He demanded that the Kano State Government and security agencies immediately investigate the incident, identify those responsible and ensure they are prosecuted according to the law.

The NDC chairman also urged authorities to strengthen security for journalists across the state so they can do their work without fear.

He noted that journalists play a vital role in keeping the public informed, ensuring accountability and strengthening democracy.

He expressed condolences to Dan Shagamu's family, colleagues and the journalism community, praying for the repose of his soul.
