Police Hunt Mob After Man Burned to Death in Akwa Ibom

Police in Akwa Ibom State have launched a search for those linked to the death of an unidentified man following a violent incident in Ikpe Ikot Akpan Village.

Akwa Ibom State Police has launched a search for people involved in k!lling an unidentified man who was beaten and burned to d£ath by a m0b in Ikpe Ikot Akpan Village on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 around 7:05 a.m.

The d£c£ased was allegedly trying to steal a motorcycle belonging to Idoroenyin Udo.

Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John said preliminary investigation showed that Idoroenyin Udo resisted the attempted theft and raised an alarm.

This prompted residents to chase and catch the suspect.

The m0b then @tt@cked, set the man ablaze and burned him to d£ath.

Police have intensified efforts to identify and arrest everyone involved in the m0b action.

Anyone found guilty will be prosecuted according to the law.

Commissioner of Police Baba Azare strongly condemned the incident and warned the public against jungle justice.

CP Azare said no person or group has the right to decide if someone is guilty or punish them outside the law.

Anyone accused of a crime must be handed over to police for investigation and prosecution.

The police command urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspected crimes to police instead of taking action themselves.

CP Azare said jungle justice is unlawful, dangerous and unacceptable.

It destroys evidence, stops proper investigation and can result in k!lling innocent people.

Investigation is ongoing and police are working to apprehend everyone connected with the incident.
