A branch manager at Polaris Bank, identified as Mr Ossy, was sh0t d£ad by suspected kidn@ppers on Sunday evening at the Federal University of Technology in Owerri, Imo State.
He was at the university campus dropping off his children, who are students there, when gunmen @tt@cked him.
His children managed to escape but he was unable to get away and was fatally sh0t after resisting the attackers.
Two female students were also taken away by the fleeing gunmen during the chaos.
The bank issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the death of their branch manager and offering condolences to his family and friends.
They said the matter was being investigated by law enforcement agencies and urged the public to allow the investigations to proceed.
The university's management confirmed that a visitor was k!lled on campus during the incident and that two female students were @bducted.
They said they are working with security agencies on recovering the students safely and have implemented additional security measures in collaboration with police.
The university asked students and staff to remain calm and report any suspicious activity.
The university leadership met with the state Commissioner of Police on Monday to discuss rising security concerns.
The police commissioner assured them of increased security around the institution and neighbouring communities in the Ihiagwa, Eziobodo, Obinze and Nekede areas.
A planned peaceful protest by some students over the killing was called off after the university reaffirmed its ban on rowdy gatherings.
The university had previously prohibited disorderly conduct, rowdy behaviour, blocking roads and damaging property, and warned against any activities that could threaten campus safety and security.
No arrests have been made in connection with the k!lling and @bduction.
