Abia PDP Candidate Promises N90,000 Minimum Wage If Elected

The PDP's candidate for Abia State governor says he'll introduce a N90,000 minimum wage and look into the cases of workers who were fired before they should have been.

Dr Kelechi Anosike told journalists his plan for the state would put people first.

He said workers who were let go before reaching retirement age or completing their years of service would have their situations reviewed.

Those who still qualify to come back would be rehired, while others would be handled according to the law.

He promised to start paying the N90,000 wage because workers should benefit from the extra money the state now gets from removing the petrol subsidy.

Instead of keeping that money, government should use part of it to help people through better healthcare, cheaper transport and welfare programmes.

Anosike also wants to make sure that no student from Abia leaves university with just a certificate.

His plan includes teaching practical skills and trades alongside academics so graduates can start businesses rather than just looking for office jobs.

He'll provide startup help for students who learn skills in school.

His education programme would also improve healthcare services at universities and support student transport.

He said government can't create office jobs for every graduate but can help them become their own bosses and hire others.

He's also planning to give small business owners easier access to loans through a microfinance initiative so they can grow their businesses.

His running mate Abraham Amah said Anosike is a visionary who will transform the state if elected and called on voters to support the PDP in 2027.
