Kano Governor Begins N50,000 Monthly Support for 6,000 Women

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has started giving money to nearly 6,000 women across all 44 areas of the state to help them start small businesses and make better lives for themselves.

Each woman will get 50,000 naira in a monthly program designed to ease poverty and help women earn their own income.

The governor said the money is available all the way through to December this year and won't run dry.

Speaking at the launch on Monday, Yusuf said the committees in each local government area would start handing out the cash the next day.

He encouraged the women to use the money however they wanted starting any kind of small business that interested them.

The programme is part of his broader plan to put Kano first and has been running since he took office.

He believes supporting women economically strengthens families and entire communities.

Mariya Bunkure, representing President Tinubu at the event, praised Yusuf for his commitment to women.

She said the kind of support he's giving makes women more independent and better able to help their families and communities grow.

The event brought together the deputy governor, traditional rulers, politicians and women representatives from across the state.

Yusuf made clear the money would keep flowing every month without any breaks, giving the women a reliable income to build with.
