Aminu Atiku Emerges New Emir of Zurmi

The Zamfara State Government has named Alhaji Aminu Atiku as the new Emir of the Zurmi Emirate Council.

The appointment was approved by Governor Dauda Lawal after he consulted with the Kingmakers of Zurmi, according to an announcement made on Monday, September 7.

Atiku becomes the 21st Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, taking over from Alhaji Bello Suleiman, who d!£d on August 31.

Atiku previously held the traditional title of Dangaladiman Zurmi and is the eldest son of the 19th Emir of Zurmi, the late Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

He once served as administrator of Zurmi Local Government Council.

Governor Lawal congratulated the new Emir and called on him to carry on the legacy of his predecessors.

The governor said Atiku should lead with focus on peace, justice, unity and the wellbeing of his people.

He also urged the new Emir to bring communities within the Emirate together and work with government and security agencies to maintain peace and order.

The Zurmi Emirate, founded centuries ago by the Alibawa clan, holds an important place in Zamfara's history, known for its tradition of scholarship, justice and service to the people.

Governor Lawal expressed confidence that Atiku's reign would help bring peace, stability and development to both the Emirate and the state.
