


Alexander Adelabu, the Nigerian Afrobeats singer, who is popularly known as Magixx has shared how he became a part of Mavin Records.
According to Magixx, he contacted someone to help him find a manager that will help him navigate his music career and gain more exposure.
During the search, Magixx said that Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, reached out to him.
Magixx in an interview with Adesope, revealed that he wasn’t initially looking to join a record label, but rather seeking someone to manage his career and book shows.
After a while, the ‘All Over’ crooner said he received an offer from Mavin Records in September or October 2020 and eventually signed a contract. Interestingly, he was the last artist to join the label.
Magixx said: “I reached out to someone that I need person wey go dey manage me, wey go help me, because really tight that time. He reached out to couple of people that was how Don Jazzy happened. I was just looking for a manager. I wasn’t even thinking about record label. I was just thinking of someone that could put me on shows for the world to see my talent.
“I got reached out to in September/October 2020, and I got offered a contract. I was the last to come in. They were going to unveil Ayra Starr that September, but because of 2020 COVID, they pushed her unveiling to January and every other person were unveiled thereafter”.
