Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed that during the June 12 struggles, he did not have a close relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He asserted that the widely circulated photograph showing him with Tinubu and the late MKO Abiola was merely a situational necessity at the time, stressing that he did not enjoy associating with politicians.

The former presidential aide stated this on Thursday during a special interview on ‘State of the Nation’ on Leadership TV.

“I was never close to him,” he said. “I was only in that picture with him and MKO Abiola because it was necessary at that point. I was not close to him or anyone,” he said.

Responding to a question on how Nigerians could hold their leaders accountable, he stated that Tinubu, as a leader, has questions to answer.

He said, “Nigerians must decide who they want to hold accountable by electing people who they can hold accountable.''

When asked for his honest opinion on the state of the nation under Tinubu, Sowore responded, “What do you expect from someone that is questionable?”

Sowore dismissed the notion that his assertion about President Tinubu being a questionable character was arguable, maintaining that it was “not debatable.”
