A trailer conveying cartons of food items branded "Seyi Tinubu", have been looted by youths in Gombe.
The items, said to be palliatives, was to be distributed to locals for Iftar amid the Ramadan fast.
However, the truck was hijacked at one of the popular junctions known as old Bauchi Motor Park, along Gombe-Bauchi Road.
A video that went viral showed that the looted boxes included food items such as small bags of rice, pasta, sugar, salt, and bottles of cooking oil.
This comes after Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, the son of Bauchi State Governor, criticised Seyi’s initiative, accusing him of carrying out sustainable empowerment programs in the West while distributing food in the North.
He wrote, "Please, when coming to Bauchi for the #RHYE, empower our youths with employment, Keke NAPEP, monies to start a business, ICT infrastructure and training for crypto trading, and so on.
"Please, we, the youths of Bauchi, don’t need rice and food in nylon bags during Ramadan.
"Teach our youths how to fish rather than feed them for one day. They are not beggars."
