The Kano State Police Command has issued a warning to residents of Kano state.
Police warned that it received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to target public gatherings in strategic locations across the state.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, residents were advised to exercise caution and avoid crowded places as a precautionary measure to help security operatives identify and neutralize potential threats.
The statement read in part: “To ensure the safety of Kano State, robust security measures have been implemented. Experts from the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Units have been deployed to strategic areas and remain on high alert. Residents are urged to report any suspicious persons or items to the unit via the following numbers: 08169884988 or 07067157218.”
The statement also encouraged residents to promptly report emergencies or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency lines, emphasizing the importance of public vigilance in maintaining security.
“The Kano State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property, as well as maintaining law and order. We appreciate the continued support and cooperation of the people of Kano State and urge everyone to stay alert and vigilant,” the statement concluded.
