The death toll from a tragic road accident on Wednesday around 2 p.m. along Okposi-Amasiri Road has risen to four. The accident involved a group of 2024 Batch C Stream 2 corps members traveling to the Orientation Camp in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The accident involved an Enugu North Mass Transit, which ran under a stationary truck within the Okposi axis in Ohaozara LGA, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries.
In a statement by David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu late Thursday evening, four lives have been loss as a result of the accident.
At least thirteen victims were rushed to the hospital and upon arrival, two victims succumbed to their injuries.
Two were transferred to the surgical ward, while others were admitted to the accident and emergency ward.
Meanwhile, one corps member escaped without injuries, while the driver sustained severe cervical injuries.
The survivors are said to be recuperating, and hospital officials are hopeful about their chances of making a full recovery.
