Popular Nigerian actor, Lateef Adedimeji has narrated how he asked his wife, Bimpe Oyebade-Adedimeji, to marry him.

During an  interview on the With Chude Podcast, Lateef Adedimeji revealed that he proposed to his wife over the phone, but she thought he was joking.

According to Adedimeji, his wife’s initial hesitation stemmed from his Islamic faith, as she feared her father would not approve of their union. However, Adedimeji eventually met with her father and asked for her hand in marriage, which was ultimately granted.

Adedimeji also addressed the couple’s past denial of their romantic relationship, stating that they only dated for about three months before getting married. This contradicts the widespread assumption among fans that the pair had been together for a longer period.

Adedimeji’s proposal story showcases the lighthearted and humorous side of their relationship, while also providing insight into the couple’s journey to marriage.

“I called her and told her I wanted to ask her something, then I told her I wanted to marry her. She was just joking, like, ‘What is doing this one? Get out! I can’t marry a Muslim; are you okay? My daddy won’t even hear that.''

“Then I told her that we’d go see her dad, and I’d speak to him and calm him down. So we went to her village during one of their masquerade festivals, and towards the end, I asked to see her dad. I promised him that I’d take care of his daughter, and he said he’d pray and get back to me, and that was it.”

“The proposal wasn’t planned because we just dated for like two, three months and then we got married.”
