On Friday, December 27, the lifeless body of a male was found under the Okefia Bridge in Osogbo, Osun State.

The circumstances surrounding the presence of the body at the location remained unclear, but eyewitnesses revealed that the man was found partially unclad.

A trader in the area, Chibuzor, revealed that the body was first noticed around midday.

He said the revelation prompted concerned individuals to alert security personnel to investigate the situation further.

He added that personnel of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, swiftly responded to the call.

The NSCDC personnel were soon joined by officials of Osogbo West local government, who collaborated with them to dispose of the body.

A bag containing some clothes was reportedly found lying beside the corpse.

Authorities took note of the surrounding environment and other possible evidence to ascertain the circumstances leading to the man’s death.

The NSCDC Osun Command spokesperson, Adeleke Kehinde said the Command was investigating the case thoroughly.

She also said officials of the local government were immediately contacted immediately upon learning of the development.

She said, “Today, December 27, the lifeless body of an elderly man was discovered under the Oke Fia Bridge in Osogbo.

“The incident was promptly reported to the Water and Environmental Sanitation Department of Osogbo West LCDA and the Head of Local Government of Osogbo West.

“Immediate arrangements were made to evacuate the body to prevent further decomposition.”

Meanwhile, an appeal has been made to tighten security across flyovers in the state.

The appeal was made through a statement by Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi, the Executive Director of World Institute of Peace, WIP, on Saturday.

Omotoyosi posited that having the flyovers secured will prevent crimes and criminalities from taking over the areas.

“I call on the Osun State Police Command and the state government to secure the flyovers in Osogbo.

“The discovery of the lifeless body under the Oke-Fia undergoing construction is not a good signal.

“Gradually these bridges may end up being hideous and dens for criminals if they are not secured.

“These flyovers need to be secured so that the common man will feel safe in Osogbo,”
he said.
