Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United manager, has denied he was approached by Manchester City to replace Pep Guardiola.
Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag during the November international break.
Before then, the 39-year-old was linked with the City job, after former Sporting director Hugo Viana joined the Premier League champions.
With Guardiola’s future uncertain at the time, Amorim was one of the names linked to the job, because of his close relationship with Viana.
When asked about thulis ahead of this weekend’s Manchester Derby, Amorim replied: “Never. Never heard from them and Man United was my only option.
“When Man Utd talked to me I had no doubts.
“I had already something in my mind that could be a possibility.
