Four persons sustained varying injuries after a section of the popular Samsung building under construction at Banex Junction, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, collapsed.
The Head of Public Affairs for the FCT Emergency Management Department, Nkechi Isa, in a statement, said the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 2, 2024, when the penthouse segment of the three-storey building collapsed during casting.
While no lives were lost in the incident, the department reported that four out of the ten workers on site sustained injuries and were taken to Wuse General Hospital for treatment.
Reacting to the incident, the Acting Director-General of the FCT FEMD, Abdulrahman Mohammed, in a statement urged developers to comply with building codes and ensure safety standards are met on construction sites.
“A section of the Samsung building under construction, located at Banex Junction, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, has collapsed. The incident occurred when the penthouse segment of the three-storey building collapsed during casting. No lives were lost in the incident,” the statement read.
However, four out of the ten construction workers on site sustained minor injuries. The injured workers have been taken to Wuse General Hospital for treatment.
Engr Abdulrahman Mohammed, appealed to developers to adhere to the building code and ensure on-site safety at all times.
He also appealed to residents to always use the 112 emergency toll-free number in the event of disaster.
