Two suspects, Ezekiel Kefas, 67, and Stephen Zabadi, 44, have been arrested in connection with the killing of a police officer, Inspector Ibrahim Maizabuwa in Adamawa State.
The deceased was gruesomely murdered by some assailants in Swa, Lafiya Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.
Upon investigation and interrogation, the culprits admitted to the crime and led the police to a shallow grave where they buried him.
Late Maizabuwa was laid to rest in Bambam town, Dadiya Balanga LGA on Monday, November 25.
Two suspects, Ezekiel Kefas, 67, and Stephen Zabadi, 44, who hail from Wamsa Suwa Ward in Lamurde LGA, were apprehended on November 19, 2024.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday said the son of the deceased, Danlami Ibrahim Maizabuwa, who hails from Gombe State, reported the matter to the police.
"Our investigation reveals that the deceased is a police officer and works in Gombe State. He visited his friend, Ezekiel Kefas, who resides at Wamsa Suwa. He was killed and buried in the community,” the PPRO said.
He quoted Kefas as saying during interrogation, “My friend came and started destroying properties, including pots of soup and water in my house and assaulting people, as a result of which women and children raised alarm which attracted thugs who beat him. They beat him with sticks to d3ath. Yesterday, we went to the houses of those who were among those who took part in the beating, but we didn’t meet any of them.”
Nguroje said the state Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, had ordered for discreet investigation, arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the matter.
