Operatives of NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate uncovered an illegal operation at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex, where expired alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were being revalidated for resale.
During the raid, two individuals were caught removing expired beverage labels and replacing them with falsified date markings.
Newly printed labels, date-marking tools, and discarded expired labels were seized. The entire premises was sealed, and the products were confiscated. The store owner, identified as the main suspect, was arrested for further investigation.
NAFDAC in a statement released advised consumers to exercise caution during purchases, especially this festive season, and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
