The Kano State Government has officially handed over 76 minors arrested during the End Bad Governance protest to their parents, cautioning them against seeking donations or support.
Governor Abba Yusuf, through his Chief of Staff, Shehu Wada Sagagi, commended President Tinubu for his gracious approval to withdraw the charges against the minors which was considered an injustice against them.
The Governor noted that what had happened was a great historical teaching to everyone that violence does not pay and joining things that are against the law is condemnable.
He said, “The government would not condone parents under the guise of Parents Association tasking people to collect donations and or support for their children, this government will not take it lightly with anybody.
“Our government knows that what happened at the End Bad Governance protest shows that government at all levels must wake up to the challenges of unemployment and lack of education.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, informed that all the minors were treated for one illness or the other, were successfully given medical attention and are all alright.
Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Counsel to the victims said the young persons went through incarceration because although protest is not a crime, it becomes criminal when people destroy and maim others, advising the young people to do more and make their parents proud.
