Two suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged mutilation of the Nigerian naira notes in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The suspects, who were identified as Ejiofor Joseph Abuju and Temple Sunday Kachi were arrested at Flairmore Event Centre on Edet Akpan Avenue in Uyo.
They were arrested recently by officers of the Special Task Force on Dollarisation and Currency Mutilation from the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Commission, following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in Naira mutilation.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC Head, Media and Publicity in a statement on Thursday, said, "Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested two men in Uyo for alleged mutilation of the Nigerian Naira notes.
"The suspects, Ejiofor Joseph Abuju and Temple Sunday Kachi, were arrested recently by officers of the Special Task Force on Dollarisation and Currency Mutilation from the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Commission, following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in Naira mutilation.
"They were arrested at Flairmore Event Centre on Edet Akpan Avenue in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded."
