On Wednesday, Martins Ortse, the Nigerian social critic, who is also known as VeryDarkMan, said he’s not trying to blackmail the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike over the demolition of Ruga community.
VeryDarkMan said Wike should relocate those whose houses were demolished in the community.
Daily Post reports that Wike had previously ordered a task force, “Operation Sweep,” to demolish Ruga and other communities within the nation’s capital in an effort to clear the city of perceived nuisances and criminal activities.
Following the demolition, Wike had explained that the action was aimed at sanitizing and securing the FCT.
Visiting the Ruga community, Wike said “No amount of blackmail, intimidation or abuses will stop us. We will go about doing our job; it doesn’t matter the CSOs hired. Our interest is to protect lives and properties and safeguard Abuja to become one of the safest cities in the world.”
Reacting, VeryDarkMan faulted the minister’s claim.
Posting on Instagram, he said: “Dear Nyesom Wike, I wasn’t paid and I am definitely not trying to blackmail you and I’m sure Deji Adeyanju wasn’t paid either.
“Just be honourable and more human and have sympathy, relocate them and continue your development; you can’t protect Abuja like this. What you are doing now will put us in a terrible situation in future thank you sir.”
