In his tribute to the legendary producer on Monday, Elumelu praised Jones for his talent in spotting and developing musical talents.
Tony Elumelu, chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has hailed Don Jazzy as the Quincy Jones Jr of Nigeria.
He was reacting to the sad demise of the US record and TV producer.
Jones, whose career spanned over 70 years, passed away on Sunday night at 91.
In his tribute to the legendary producer on Monday, Elumelu praised Jones for his talent in spotting and developing musical talents.
The businessman added that Don Jazzy, the Nigerian producer, is following in Jones’ footsteps by fostering exceptional young artistes in the music industry.
“I have always admired Quincy Jones, not only for his role in producing some of Michael Jackson’s most iconic hits but also for his remarkable ability to identify and nurture talent,” he wrote on X.
“In our part of the world, I believe Don Jazzy is following in his footsteps.
“Quincy’s unique gift exemplifies a key leadership virtue that has shaped the music industry, leaving an indelible mark and a legacy of success. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
