A warehouse in Wuse, Abuja, which is alleged to be stocked with expired food products, has ben shut down by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

NAFDAC said the warehouse located at Wuse Zone 4 had stocks of expired and unregistered food products valued at ₦87.5 million.

The agency stated the warehouse operators were planning to revalidate and resell the expired items into the market.

NAFDAC, in a statement, on its X handle, on Friday, disclosed that the warehouse operators also had some of the expired food products at its Wuse 2 store.

It read, “NAFDAC has uncovered a warehouse in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, containing large quantities of expired and unregistered food products.

“The operation extended to a supermarket in Wuse 2, Abuja, where revalidated items from the warehouse were allegedly being sold to unsuspecting consumers.

“Both locations were promptly closed for further investigation. Among the expired items confiscated were Cornitos Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, Nacho Crisp, Paneer Makhani, Palak Paneer and Dal Tadka with the haul valued at approximately 87.5 million naira.”
