Ola Aina played a crucial role in Forest’s solid defense, contributing to their first league victory at the Merseyside ground in 55 years.

Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina was in superb form over the weekend, earning him a place in the Premier League Team of the Week.

This followed his outstanding performance in Nottingham Forest’s surprising 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Ola Aina played a crucial role in Forest’s solid defense, contributing to their first league victory at the Merseyside ground in 55 years.

Aina’s exceptional performance caught the attention of Premier League legend Alan Shearer, who selected him in his best XI for the Game Week.

“Part of a fantastic defensive effort from Forest, Aina effectively contained the in-form Luis Diaz, which is no small achievement,” Shearer commented on the 26-year-old’s display.

The former Chelsea youth product played the entire 90 minutes and played a key part in thwarting Liverpool’s attacks. His most crucial contribution came when he cleared a goal-bound effort off the line, denying Diaz in the first half.

Ola Aina’s inclusion in the Team of the Week highlights the effectiveness of Nuno Espirito Santo’s well-executed game plan.

The Portuguese manager’s strategy of defending with a deep line and utilizing speed on the counter-attack proved successful, with substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi scoring the winning goal against Liverpool following this pattern.

Forest’s impressive performance at Anfield also led to two other defenders, Murillo and Alex Moreno, being selected alongside Ola Aina in Shearer’s lineup. Midfielder Elliot Anderson and manager Nuno Espirito Santo also earned spots in the team, which featured players from seven different clubs.

The Team of the Week also included notable performances from Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez, Manchester United’s Matthijs de Ligt, and Arsenal’s Gabriel.

Additionally, Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins were recognized for their goal-scoring exploits.
