NiMet Predicts 3 Days Of Thunderstorms, Rain Starting Monday

According to the weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, areas in the northern region such as Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba will experience isolated thunderstorms in the morning hours of Monday.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) in its weather forecast has predicted a stretch of thunderstorms and rain across various parts of the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to the weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, areas in the northern region such as Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba will experience isolated thunderstorms in the morning hours of Monday.

Additionally, intermittent rainfall is expected across Niger, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the same period.

As the day progresses, localized rains are likely in the afternoon and evening in parts of the FCT, Plateau, Niger, and Nasarawa states.

In the southeast, states like Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Imo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River are forecast to experience morning rains, with localized rainfall continuing into the afternoon in other regions including Abia, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Akwa Ibom.

On Tuesday, NiMet predicts morning thunderstorms over parts of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba, with these conditions persisting later in the day across Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Yobe, Zamfara, Sokoto, and several other northern states.

Isolated rains will likely occur in Benue, Kogi, the FCT, and Nasarawa, with intermittent rainfall expected to impact Edo, Ondo, Cross River, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa throughout the day.

Wednesday’s forecast suggests thunderstorms will strike Kebbi, Bauchi, Sokoto, Borno, and Katsina in the morning. The afternoon and evening will bring isolated thunderstorms to states including Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Adamawa, Kano, and Taraba.

Morning rainfall is predicted for the FCT and Niger, followed by isolated thunderstorms in Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger later in the day.

The southern part of the country will see cloudy skies in the morning, giving way to moderate rainfall in states such as Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Edo, Rivers, and Delta later in the day.
