A Man Cannot Be Convicted For Offence Of R@ping His Wife No Matter The Circumstances - Nigerian Lawyer Says

Stella Justice, a Nigerian lawyer, has caused a stir with a statement she made online.

The lawyer said a man cannot be convicted for r*ping his wife because marital or spousal r*pe is not a crime in Nigeria.

“CAN A HUSBAND R@PË HIS WIFE? A WIFE who is LEGALLY MARRIED to a MAN CANNOT claim that her HUSBAND R@PED her no matter the CIRCUMSTANCES under which the HUSBAND had SËX with her,” she wrote in a post on Saturday. 

"This is because, the OFFENCE of SPOUSAL or MARITAL R@PÊ is YET to be provided in any LAW in NIGERIA.

 "A man CANNOT be CONVICTED for the offence of R@PING his WIFE.

"SECTION 282(2) of the penal code act 

“SECTION 357 of the criminal code act.”
