Another okada rider identified as Yakubu has been killed by suspected motorcycle snatchers in the Arigidi Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State

Yakubu's remains were found in his pool of blood along Arigidi Akoko/Okeagbe road with his throat slit open and motorcycle missing on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

The incident was reported at the police station in the area while men of the Amotekun corps visited the scene and subsequently took the corpse to the morgue.

The killing of Yakubu was the fourth in the community within the last month.

Three other commercial motorcyclists had been gruesomely k!lled by some suspected snatchers.

It will be recalled that a suspect was arrested at the Ondo/Kogi border by a security operative after k!lling the owner of the motorcycle.

The development led some women from the Akoko community to protest over the gruesome killings of Okada riders and farmers in the area, calling for the arrest of the killers

It was gathered that community leaders from Ogbagi Akoko had earlier held a meeting on the serial k!llings of motorcyclists in the Akoko area and called for a special task force in the area.

The community leaders expressed apprehension over the turn of events in the area, noting that farmers could no longer go to the farm while Okada riders were being killed at will.

The leaders stressed the need to confront the surge in violence in the area while the Akoko Security and Economic Development Council emphasised the urgent need for community-based security measures to tackle the escalating crisis.

It was however, gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okeagbe, along with Civil Defence and Amotekun Corps members, have swung into action, assuring that the suspect will be arrested.
