Fear As Gunmen Shoot Another Woman Dead In Ekiti State

The many residents of Ado-Ekiti have been gripped with fear and tension after daring gunmen once again shot dead a middle-aged woman on Saturday morning.

Daily Post reports that the incident happened at a junction close to the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti Continuing Education Center, off NTA road, Ado Ekiti around 7am.

Recall that no fewer than four persons were shot dead by gunmen in Ado-Ekiti in the last few weeks in similar circumstances.

The locals said the assailants came on a bike and attempted to collect the bag of the woman who was standing by the road.

The deceased had resisted the attack before she was overpowered and shot dead. The incident caused panic in the area as many scampered for safety. Many traders hurriedly closed their shops and fled the scene.

Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu said it was more of a robbery, adding that the sum of forty thousand, two hundred and eighty nairy was found in her bag.

He said her body had been deposited in the morgue and the police were on the trail of the criminals.
