Popular X influencer, Suraj Oyewale, aka Sir Jarus, has been arraigned by the Lagos State government, through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), over the alleged physical assault on his wife.

Last week, Sir Jarus admitted on X (formerly Twitter) that he beat his first wife, Mrs Oyewale Ayoola, because she tried to stop him from taking a second wife by getting help from a “Cele Prophet” who gave her “juju”.

X users slammed him for this while reminding him that he once narrated how the same first wife sold her belongings to provide for the family when things were tight.

They have been married for 14 years and share three children.

X users also warned the incoming wife to also expect domestic violence when he is tired of her.

Sir Jarus returned to X days later and recorded a video with his first wife, showing that they have settled. In the video, he is seen mocking social media users who slammed him for domestic violence, while stating that they can't come between them.

However, on Wednesday, July 3, the DSVA announced that Sir Jarus had been arrested and currently in police custody.

Today, July 4, the agency announced in a statement shared on its X platform, that the influencer has been charged to court on two counts bordering on assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

According to agency, he was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court 5.

The statement read: "Surajudeen Oyetunji Oyewole (@SirJarus) has been charged to Court, (Court 5, Ogba Magistrate Court) on Two Counts.

"Count l: Assault against his wife.''
