Mr Ibu’s Captivating Screen Presence, Comedy Brought Joy to Nigerians - Soludo Mourns Late Actor

Okafor, a veteran comical figure in Nigeria’s movie industry, who died on March 2 after a long battle with diabetes.

 
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has mourned the passing of actor Mr John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu.
 
Recall that Ibu died on March 2 after a long battle with diabetes.
 
Soludo, in a condolence message signed by Mr Christian Aburime, his Press Secretary, said the death of Mr Ibu had left a big void in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
 
He said Mr Ibu’s comedy, infectious laughter, and captivating screen presence, brought joy and laughter to millions across the country and beyond.
 
“Having acted in over 200 movies in his career, it is acknowledged that the immense contributions Mr Okafor made to the growth and development of Nollywood and the creative industry will remain evergreen.
 
“His dedication to his craft and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages cemented his place as a true legend of the industry,” he said.
 
“On behalf of the government and people of Anambra State, Soludo commiserates with Mr. Okafor’s family, friends, and colleagues, including the Actors Guild of Nigeria during this difficult time,” he said.
 
Soludo recalled that Mr Ibu demonstrated immense strength and resilience during his health challenges and prayed that his spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity would serve as an inspiration to many.
