Retired Nigerian Army Officer Dies From Injuries Sustained While Saving Lives After Bandits Attacked His Home In Kaduna (Photo)

A friend and colleague, Ojo Famujimi, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, February 22, 2024, said bandits attacked Donfaf's house shortly after he arrived from Abuja.

 
A retired Nigerian Army officer, Lieutenant Colonel, Godwin Highlife Donfah has died.
 
He died from injuries he sustained while saving lives when bandits attacked his residence in Kaduna State.
 
A friend and colleague, Ojo Famujimi, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, February 22, 2024, said bandits attacked Donfaf's house shortly after he arrived from Abuja. 
 
According to Mr. Famujimi, the deceased retired from the Nigerian Army two years ago. 
 
“GREAT LOSS The journey of friendship started at 72 Airborne Battalion Makurdi, Benue State when you came as a young Ex boy (NMS) A very young and vibrant and sporty soldier,” he wrote.
 
"Our passion for education and knowledge saw both of us pursuing a career in the medical courses. You rose from ranks to be a Lieutenant Colonel in the army. 
 
"In 1999, we both fought the religious war in Kaduna to a stand still. I still remember how we led troop to rescue a Church at Ungunwan Dosa from these religious fanatics. 
 
"Your military career took you to fight in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan and many other foreign countries and you survived. Just 2 years ago and few days after your retirement bandits attacked your house in Kaduna on your arrival from Abuja, your wife was abducted in the process but was tactically rescued from their den. 
 
“Your sun set yesterday you succumbed to the cold hand of death while trying to save lives. Highlife, as we your friends call you, It is too early. I am dumbfounded. Lt Col Godwin Highlife Donfah, it is hard for me to say goodbye. RIP friend.”
