Funke Akindele has made history in the UK.
 
Her film, A Tribe Called Judah which has the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood filmmaker of all time, shattered box office records in the UK.
 
According to information gathered, her film has earned £80,000 in just four weeks of streaming.
 
In the four weeks following its debut, the film grossed more than one billion naira in Nigeria. Film One praised Akindele’s attentiveness and big-balling ability.

Etikonaija reported that Funke Akindele used her social media platform to celebrate her film “A Tribe Called Judah,” which grossed a record-breaking N1 billion in theaters.
 
The filmmaker’s production partner on the project, FilmOne Entertainment, announced the milestone in a statement on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
 
Akindele also directed the second highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time, Battle on Buka Street (668 million), as well as the third highest-grossing Nollywood film, Omo Ghetto: The Saga (636 million).
 
According to Moses Babatope, Group Deputy Managing Director of FilmHouse Group, the new milestone proves that Nigerian film is at its peak.
 
“Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah reaching the one billion naira mark is an indication that despite the stiff competition from international streaming platforms, our local content continues to thrive, engaging audiences on a grand scale,” he said.
 
Taking to her verified Instagram page, the excited Funke Akindele wrote:
 
“Thank you LORD!!! Thank you NIGERIA!! Thank you GHANA!!.”
