A survivor of Tuesday's explosion in Ibadan has disclosed that the Malian national who stored the explosives fled the scene just before the explosion occurred.
The victim said the Malian and members of his household, who occupied the house where the incident occured, ran away when they saw that the building was on fire without informing the neighbors.
The survivor made the claim while speaking with some security operatives at the scene of the incident.
Recall that an explosive device exploded at a residential building located at Dejo Oyelese close, Bodija Housing Estate in Ibadan on Tuesday.
No fewer than five people have lost their lives as a result of the incident while several others have been injured.
Property worth millions of naira were destroyed. It was learnt that hundreds of people have been displaced as a result of the incident.
Recall that a former member of Oyo State House of Assembly, Barrister Muideen Olalekan Olagunju had in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, said that a Malian identified as Sawane Youssouf was the one occupying the building where the incident occured.
Speaking on Friday, one of the victims of the explosion said that the Malian, his co-workers and family members left the house just before the explosion occurred.
The man who introduced himself as Muhammad Dalesi, in a video obtained by DAILY POST, said, “There is one guy, I saw him at the front of the house, he came out. I saw him at the front of the house, one of the residents. He is a young guy.
“I knew that there could be explosives. Of course that is what they used for their stuff, do you understand? When they want to do blasting. That is what I know that happened. I know how they operate. All of a sudden, I just heard Gboom!
“One thing is that, as at the time I came out, there was nobody in the building. They have all gone. All of them.
“When the house was burning, you know you will alert the neighbors, you will say fire, fire, they did not alert anybody.
“The luck I had was that I was almost here, if I was at the front of the house, only God knows what would have happened to me.”
