After it closed following a recent emergency, the Port Harcourt airport has been reopened to other aircraft.
An airport official told journalists that an aircraft skidded off the runway at the International Airport on Tuesday.
While efforts are still on to remove the affected aircraft, the airspace has now been opened to other airlines for operations.
The Official said no aircraft was able to land at the Port Harcourt International Airport after the aircraft skidded off the runway shortly after landing.
The aircraft is said to belong to ValueJet airline which had 67 passengers and 5 crew members on board.
There were no fatalities recorded, but some passengers are said to have sustained injuries.
According to the management of ValueJet airline, the aircraft slipped off shortly after landing due to algae on the taxiway.
It said the situation made it unable to maintain the centre-line situation.
The management of the airline stated that no damage was done to the aircraft.
