Nigerian Boxer, Efe Ajagba Retains WBC Silver Title

Posted by Thandiubani on Mon 06th Nov, 2023 - tori.ng

Ajagba’s Pro record now stands at 19-1 with 14 knockouts while Goodall, a Brisbane native, fell to 10-2-1 with his first loss inside the distance.

Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Efe Ajagba has retained his WBC Silver belt over the weekend.

He retained his belt after stopping Australia’s Goodall in the 4th round of their 10-round bout at Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline, Nevada.

Referee Tony Weeks stopped their fight 50 seconds into the 4th round because Goodall had taken too many unanswered punches. Ajagba drilled Goodall with a right hand that wobbled him in the fourth round. Sensing that Goodall was ready to go, Ajagba unloaded an array of power punches that made the referee step between them to spare Goodall from taking unnecessary punishments.

It was a sweet revenge for Ughelli native Ajagba, who got his pound of flesh, beating the Aussie who had denied him a place in the final of the Super Heavyweight event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games nine years ago.

Goodall came into their fight after producing his most noteworthy professional win, a sixth-round stoppage of Stephan Shaw on July 22 at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Shaw (18-2, 13 KOs) had earlier gone the distance with Ajagba in his previous fight, a 10-rounder Ajagba won by unanimous decision January 14 at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

Ajagba’s Pro record now stands at 19-1 with 14 knockouts while Goodall, a Brisbane native, fell to 10-2-1 with his first loss inside the distance.
