Dino Melaye
The camp of Sen Dino Melaye, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused his counterparts, Elder Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Muritala Ajaka, of working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming polls.
Melaye’s team alleged that the governorship candidates are pursuing a third-term agenda for the incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
This accusation was made by the spokesperson of the Dino/Deen youth campaign council of the PDP, David Itopa, over the weekend.
Itopa argued that Ajaka was previously a close ally of Governor Bello and played a role in the deliberate impoverishment of the people of Kogi state.
“At what point did Muri Ajaka realize that APC under the watch of Mr Bello had failed to deliver on good governance in Kogi state?,” Itopa queried while addressing youths in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, during the weekend.
Itopa asserted that Governor Bello’s leadership in the state was woeful and that Ajaka cannot be absolved of responsibility for it.
Additionally, he claimed that Abejide, the ADC candidate, is aware that he cannot emerge victorious in the November 11 polls but is instead attempting to sabotage Melaye’s chances.
“We know these things. Leke Abejide has never hidden his association with APC — it is a classical case of the biblical voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau.
“How can you say you are against Bello in Kogi state, but you unapologetically flaunt your membership of APC? It smacks of hypocrisy,” Itopa said.
The PDP chieftain urged the people of Kogi state to look at the past eight (8) years of APC’s reign in the state and resist every attempt to allow the APC to hoodwink them into subjecting them to another year of hardship and suffering.
