Many Nigerians on social media have gone online to react to the act of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national delegate from Kaduna State, Tanko Sabo, who reportedly donated over N12 million he got from the party’s presidential primary to the underprivileged people in the Sanga Local Government Area of the state.

Sabo had shared part of the cash he allegedly got from his party’s presidential aspirants among indigent members of his community.

Mr Rwuben Buhari, a former Special Adviser on Media to the late Kaduna State Governor, Ibrahim Yakowa, claimed that Sabo showered N7 million on the underprivileged people in his community.

Buhari said, “He bought jerseys, paid school fees and settled hospital bills. He distributed the rest to other support groups.

“Whatever is the argument on whether he was right in collecting the money or not, my consolation is that hundreds of the underprivileged persons in his community are smiling today. For that, I say well done, Tanko.”

Sabo was among the Kaduna State delegates who were at the national convention of the PDP in Abuja last Saturday, where former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was elected the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general election.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had stormed the venue of the primary on Saturday but no one was apprehended.

The delegate has been trending on social media with many commending his action and describing him as a “delegate with a difference”.

Reacting on Facebook one Ambrose Ndukwu condemned those calling for Sabo’s arrest by the EFCC.

“Those who are saying EFCC should arrest this man are talking nonsense. Was he the one that stole the money? He was haired for a job and having done his own part received his wages. Moreover, he should be appreciated for being kind enough to share the national cake with his own people back home, unlike some who will collect and eat alone. He is from Sanga LGA in Kaduna State,” Ndukwu said.

Nkweze Chisome Michael wrote: “Kindly protect this man as the offenders would come for him. Can we trust our law enforcers to protect him or are they corrupt too?”

Chibueze Mbaka said, “The worst corrupt and wicked people are those who collect bribes to vote for corrupt leaders against their conscience. God forbid!”

Tweeting via George17060733, one George Igwegbe wondered about the intention of the politician that shared the money.

“What is the intention of the politician that shared this money to the delegate, how did the politician get this money and how will he recover the money later?,” George17060733 wrote.

Favourchidozie8 said, “That’s an impressive gesture, more blessings to you guys that sees the importance of reaching home.”
