President Muhammadu has been warned against prosecuting southern leaders by the Biafra Nations League.
President Muhammadu Buhari has received a serious warning from the Biafra Nations League (BNL) over his plan to prosecute members of the National Assembly from the Southeast and Southsouth he accused of sponsoring IPOB.
Speaking on Friday while reacting to Buhari’s Independence Day speech vowing to clampdown on sponsors of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho, BNL warned that it’s militias might be forced to carry out attacks if any lawmaker in prosecuted.
The group made this known in a statement jointly signed by the National Leader of BNL, Princewill Chimezie Richards, Deputy Leader, Ebuta Akor Takon and Chief of General Staff, Linus Asuquo Essien.
The pro-Biafra urged Buhari to present evidence to the public that any National Assembly member from the region is sponsoring IPOB.
According to the BNL, arresting a southern lawmaker will create more problem for Nigeria especially in the Gulf of Guinea where they have more presence and militias loyal to them.
They warned that if Buhari tries to rubbish anybody from the region in the National Assembly they may be forced to act.
While insisting that the Biafra struggle is not sponsored by any politician in Nigeria, BNL said that Nnamdi Kanu and his group started by receiving free will donations from Biafrans all over the world.
BNL said that the Biafrans abroad have been doing enough to finance the movement and not those in Nigeria.
Naija News had earlier reported that Buhari on Friday came hard on sponsors of separatist agitations in the country, accusing them of abandoning their national leadership positions for their selfish gains.
He disclosed that a member of the National Assembly has been identified as sponsor of separatist agitation.
He stated that this came to light following the arrests of leader of IPOB and Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, alias Igboho.
According to Buhari, “The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, and the ongoing investigations being conducted have revealed certain high-profile financiers behind these individuals.
“We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the National Assembly.
“This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains.
“Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youth to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.”
