The mentally unstable man went into the grave in Acre, north Brazil.
His family reported him to the police.
Video footage shows the man being pulled through a narrow hole above his head.

The man, who has not yet been identified, can barely stand when he is freed and has to be supported by the policemen.
He wails after being released from the tomb and appears distressed.
The footage was posted on YouTube and has attracted comments from horrified viewers.
