Photos have shown the moment a boxer who suffered a horrific brain haemorrhage during a bout. He is now fighting for his life in hospital.
According to Daily Star UK, Yeison Cohen, 28, was fighting Hugo Berrio in a featherweight contest when he collapsed to the canvas.
In footage posted by YouTube channel Boxeo de Colombia, Cohen is seen slumped in the corner as his team tries to help him to his feet.
One man tries to keep him cool by fanning him with a towel.
The referee looms over to check on his wellbeing, before lifting Berrio’s arm to give him the technical knockout victory.
The shocking incident took place in the El Prado hotel in Barranquilla, capital of the Colombian state of Atlantico, last Friday.
Cohen was rushed to hospital in a taxi with his trainer Eddie Pacheco.
"I went to look for a taxi because there were not any ambulances,” Pacheco said. "The taxi took us to the hospital, where I stayed until five in the morning.
“It is huge despair and anguish. We did not find the support.”
According to local media, the boxer was operated on after doctors saw he had suffered a brain haemorrhage.
He is still in intensive care.
Berrio’s trainer, Sergio Chams, praised the ringside doctor’s quick-thinking after the incident.
“The doctor attended to him quickly, he woke him up and they immediately took him to hospital," he said.
“It was a fair fight, there was nothing suspicious, it was a competitive fight.”
