Former Abia governor and latest member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Orji Uzor Kalu has paid a publicized courtesy visit to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Kuje prison, Abuja from where he is facing trial over treason at the Federal High Court.

The details of the meeting are currently fuzzy but strong rumours have it that it may not be far from a peace deal with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari which has displayed abhorence to the secessionist ambition of the Independent People of Biafra as championed by Mr. Kanu.

After the visit today, 16th of December, 2016, Mr. Kalu shared photos of himself and Kanu on his official Facebook page.

He wrote: "Today, I visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje Prison and we engaged in a very long discussion. Kanu is my brother and a son of the soil. He shouldn't be where he is because Kuje Prison is not his home. It is therefore my utmost concern to see him regain his freedom like every other Nigerian"

There is the possibility of brokering a truce with Buhari considering the close political relationship between Buhari and Kalu as the former is alleged to be preparing for the 2019 presidential race.
