There was anxiety on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja after a passenger from Owerri, slumped and died at the arrival hall of the airport.
Air passengers at the arrival hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja (NAIA) late on Monday, experienced fear and anxiety when an Abuja-bound passenger from Owerri, the Imo State capital, slumped and died at about 5.45p.m.
Speaking to a ThisDay correspondent, a competent source who demanded for anonymity when the incident occurred, said the passenger arrived the airport with his personal physician from Abuja via Air Peace airline at about 5.45p.m.
The incident, which caused some anxiety at the airport, the source said, was calmed down following the arrival of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) ambulance.
The acting Manager, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, who confirmed the incident on the phone, said the passenger arrived Abuja, but slumped at the arrival hall of the airport.
She could not however confirm whether the passenger died or not, adding: “It is true, that an Abuja-bound passenger from Owerri who came with his family actually collapsed.”
She stressed further: “I cannot now say whether, the person died or not, as I’m aware that he came with his family members and had been conveyed to a private hospital.”
