The horrible state of the nation has forced the Anglican Church of Nigeria to beg President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue Nigerians from suffering and death before it is too late.

In a communique issues by the yesterday, the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has lamented over the rising rate of attacks by herdsmen on farming communities across the country.

In the communiqué signed by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Duke Akamisoko of the Diocese of Kubwa, on the second session of the third synod in St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, Kubwa, Abuja lamented over the height of increased inflation and massive job loss.

The church urged government at all levels to promote and provide an enabling environment for the participation of everyone in agriculture, allied industries and other income generating ventures to increase the economic base of the nation and create employment opportunities for all.

It noted that Nigeria was trying to recover from the effect of the massive destruction of lives and property in the north eastern states of Nigeria by Boko Haram insurgents, stressing that the incessant killing of Christians, were worrisome.

The church said: “The Synod notes with dismay the prevalent attack on farming communities by Fulani herdsmen in different parts of the country and demand that more decisive actions should be taken by the government to disarm the herdsmen to stem the rising wave of attack and killing of harmless farmers as this is inimical to its desire to diversify our economy through agriculture.”
