Furious Nigerians have unleashed their anger after the Ooni of Ife was caught on camera singing about Jesus.
The Ooni of Ife
The highly revered Yoruba royal father, the Ooni of Ife, was captured on camera singing about Jesus Christ being his father recently in a public gathering.
However many Nigerians have blasted him for his declaration.
The Ooni sang a special number during the recent Father's Day celebration in a Church Service.
The song he sang had these words: "I have a father and he will never ever fail me...Jesus is my father, he will never fail me, rock of ages, never ever fails..."
The royal father even went on to ask the congregants to join him in singing.
The video of him singing, seen below, has since gone viral and many Nigerians are of the opinion that the Ooni cannot possibly mean what he is saying since he is supposed to declare for Oduduwa according to Yoruba customs.
Some have argued that since he is the custodian of the Yoruba culture and tradition, which includes the deities, he cannot be a Christian.
Others say, even if he is a Christian, cannot go deep to a point of declaring Jesus as his Father.
