A US-based Nigerian woman, Omotoyosi Ogunbanwo, has stated that she suspects that there is no clean money in Lagos State.
The finance and data expert stated that she can't afford the ‘Lagos lifestyle’ despite earning $300K a year.
Taking to Facebook, she stated that brand new 2026 luxury vehicles that have barely hit dealerships in America are being shipped to Nigeria constantly, stating that the level of wealth in Lagos is wild.
“I genuinely suspect there is no clean money in Lagos. I make over $300K a year which is considered high income in America and I still can’t afford the Lagos lifestyle. Something is wrong somewhere lmao,” she wrote.
“I’m not saying this as a shade to anyone though. I’m truly amazed at the level of wealth in Lagos. It’s wild. Brand new 2026 luxury vehicles that have barely hit dealerships in America are being shipped to Nigeria on a constant. I can’t even buy those cars cash down despite my income level. I am amazed truly.”
