Orji pointed out that while Ikpeazu condemned leaders who criticise their predecessors, he himself was guilty of the same by criticizing his predecessor’s administration.

Sen Theodore Orji, a former governor of Abia State, has lambasted his successor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, advising him to “carry his cross”, take responsibility for his actions and refrain from making “careless statements” about others.

This follows comments by Ikpeazu at an event in Abuja, where he called elected leaders who criticise their predecessors “lazy” and also claimed that Abia was in a “gloomy state” when he took office in 2015.

In a swift response, Senator Orji, speaking through his former Liaison Officer and Senior Aide, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, called out Ikpeazu’s contradictory statements.

Orji pointed out that while Ikpeazu condemned leaders who criticise their predecessors, he himself was guilty of the same by criticizing his predecessor’s administration.

Orji expressed disappointment that instead of focusing on governance and taking accountability, Ikpeazu had resorted to blaming others for the state’s situation.

He emphasized that leadership is not about making speeches but about delivering results. “Ikpeazu should once again carry his cross and take responsibility for his actions and inactions instead of looking for who to blame,” Orji stated.
