Herbal Products Worth Millions Of Naira Destroyed As Fire Ravages Facility In Oyo

It was learnt that the fire incident, which started around 10 am, went on for more than two hours before it was finally quenched.

Herbal products valued at millions of naira were destroyed in a fire that gutted a storage facility in Oyo town, Oyo State.

According to Daily Post, it was gathered that the incident occurred at Olanlokun junction, Obabi Street, Old Cele area in Oyo on Saturday.

It was learnt that the fire incident, which started around 10 am, went on for more than two hours before it was finally quenched.

The building is being used as storage facility for herbal products.

It was learnt that herbal products of different kinds worth millions of naira were completely destroyed.

General Manager, Oyo State Fire Service Mr Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the incident.

Akinyinka in a statement made available on Sunday said, “Fire incident was reported at exactly 10.39 am on Saturday 5th April, 2025.

“A crew of firemen led by ACFS Oyedeji PM was promptly deployed to the scene and arrived at the scene by 10. 45hrs.

“On getting there, the crew met heaps of local herbs within the premises of a residential buildings being used to store different types of local herbs, engulfed by fire.

“We swiftly commenced firefighting operation and were able to curtailed it from spreading to main building and the nearby buildings.

“The properties worth several millions of naira were saved by the officers of the agency.

“It took fire service more than three hours before the fire was completely extinguished because it involved accumulated heap of herbs for many years”.
